When truck drivers strike you don't want to be anywhere around!

Expect shortages of:-
First to go is dairy
Fresh vegetables next
Petrol stations will be swamped the day before strike will happen. Stations will rapidly run out of petrol.

After 4 - 5 days prices of vegetables will sky rocket. Buy staples - onions, carrots, potato etc before strike starts.

In India electricity black outs shortages happened because coal trucks couldn't get by picket lines.

Aircraft will fill up with aviaition fuel from neighbouring country.

Life becomes difficult if you are returning a rental car. In Spain a few years ago tourists had to abandon cars on the side of the road.

Truck drivers union may allow baby food and milk to be delivered along with prescriptions.

If you get wind of a truck drivers strike be aware that they will block border crossings and airport exits from the highway can also be blocked. 

Taxi drivers will have to drop you off far away from your terminal. Not good for elderly, small children and you who will likely be lugging your luggage in scorching hot weather. Bring along an extra love one who is not flying with you and can help you.

Same instructions apply to farmers strike and taxi strikes.
