March 28, 2013 SNCM 1,400 Sailors, officers, ground staff, stewards, managers and non managers all will strike on Tuesday  April, 2  for 24 hours. 


Only one other car ferry company CMN. Marseille and Nice but only in the summer months.

All Corsican ports, Marseille, Nice, Toulon, Algeria.
Calvi, Bastia, Ajaccio, Ile Rousse, Propriano, and Porto Vecchio on Corsica, Porto Torres on Sardinia, Algiers, Oran, Skikda and Bejaia in Algeria as well as Tunis in Tunisia and Genoa in Italy.


Management charter Greek ferry, El Venizelos to replace one of its ships, Ile de Beaute. 

Greek crew, Greek ship flying Greek flag unacceptable to all SNCM unions CGT, SAMMM, CFE CGC, CFDT, CFTC AND STC. Consequently all ships to be tied to ports for this huge management blunder.

April 18, 2013 Meetings held yesterday, Greek ship El Venizelos will sail under the French flag for two seasons. 
April 15 French seamen's strike again. Planned for Tuesday, tomorrow April 16, will last 24 hours. Sailings to Marseille, Nantes, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Sete, Genoa, Tunis will be cancelled. No ships will leave port.

Saturday 28 June 2014 Mega Express ll docks at Corsican Port D'L'ile- Rousse instead of being diverted to Calvi. Port will stay open all week-end. Strike is likely to go on July and August.

24 June 2014 SNCM will keep passengers informed of the situation 48 hours before sailing by SMS- Text. As strike is renewable every 24 hours this becomes difficult. You can call 04 95 34 55 72 (busy) and get refund if you cancel. Corsica Ferries picking up the slack.

22 June 2014 SNCM union workers have called for strike action renewable every 24 hours. Starts Tuesday, 24 June, 2014. Ferries to Maghreb and Corsica will be tied to the port.

2 January 2014 SNCM in full strike mode, indefinite. No ferries to leave from Corsica to mainland for the next 24 hours. Strike began yesterday. So far some 4,000 passengers delayed, one million euros of losses so far. 6 of the 8 ships will be moored to ports in Corsica and North Africa. Marseille boarding area reported as deserted.
Workers will meet again tomorrow for further instructions.
